My name is Amy Tsai. I am an aspiring creative professional in the nonprofit sector. I took a leave of absence from Columbia University and am currently attending Wei Kong College at National Tsing Hua University.
Born and raised in Hsinchu City, I was admitted into a gifted program at a local Catholic junior high school and later National Experimental High School. My talent in writing flourished during this period. I won several writing awards in national and citywide contests, including the first place in Kuen Tai Cup and Union Cup Hsinchu. I attended New York Film Academy in summer 2014 and later founded Filmmaking Camp for Teens in rural Hsinchu. I was selected into the Taiwan Delegation to Israel in 2016 and was awarded the Harvard Prize Book the same year.
I moved to New York City to attend Columbia University in 2017. The dynamic art scene of the City and Columbia’s activist communities inspired me to study visual arts and sociology. Beyond academics, I have been involved in film and theatre design, including Off-Broadway shows, immersive shows and commercials. Experienced in branding, creative strategy and media production, I have worked for organizations like PepsiCo, Symposium Global, Birds Nest Foundation and AUO Foundation. I was the semi-Finalist of Nikon Storytellers Scholarship in North America and was selected in Boundless Exposed, a collaborative program for emerging theatre designers of color.
In the future, I hope to advocate for gender equality, especially for women’s rights.
